Skipton Residents Urged to Embrace Ultrafast Full Fibre Broadband by Openreach

A substantial portion of Skipton’s residents and businesses have yet to seize the benefits of Ultrafast Full Fibre broadband, with just 13 percent having made the upgrade despite its availability.

Openreach, following a noteworthy local investment of £2.4 million, has been diligently expanding its network to deliver ultrafast broadband speeds of up to one gigabit per second (Gbps) to the majority of this market town.

This development extends to Skipton’s residents and businesses, who are now being encouraged to explore the advantages of faster broadband services. Openreach’s Full Fibre network, used by prominent providers like BT, Sky, TalkTalk, Vodafone, and Zen, is currently accessible to over 8,000 premises in the area.

Full Fibre broadband offers not only enhanced speed but also greater reliability, resilience, and future-proof connectivity. It is characterized by fewer faults, more consistent speeds, and the capacity to accommodate multiple devices simultaneously.

Beyond Skipton, Openreach has outlined plans to expand its network into eight other nearby communities, including Bentham, Cross Hills, Ingleton, Gargrave, and Settle.

Matthew Lovegrove, Openreach’s regional manager for Yorkshire and the Humber, emphasized the importance of taking the initiative to upgrade, stating that it’s a deliberate action that users must undertake through their broadband provider. He underlined the transformative impact of fast and reliable Full Fibre broadband on daily lives and its positive contribution to the local economy. Moreover, he highlighted the network’s future-proof nature, ensuring that it remains effective for decades to come, regardless of increasing bandwidth demands or unforeseen challenges.
