Whitley Bay Urged to Embrace Openreach’s Ultrafast Full Fibre Broadband

A significant percentage of Whitley Bay residents and businesses are yet to embrace the benefits of Ultrafast Full Fibre broadband, with just 20 percent having made the switch despite its availability.

Openreach, after a substantial local investment of £5.7 million, has been actively expanding its network to provide ultrafast broadband speeds of up to one gigabit per second (Gbps) to the majority of Whitley Bay and its surrounding communities.

This development encompasses areas like Cullercoats, Monkseaton, West Monkseaton, and parts of Shiremoor. Residents and businesses in these locales are now being encouraged to explore the advantages of faster broadband services. Openreach’s Full Fibre network, utilized by leading providers including BT, Sky, TalkTalk, Vodafone, and Zen, is now accessible to over 19,000 premises in the region.

Full Fibre broadband is not only faster but also offers enhanced reliability, resilience, and future-proof connectivity. Users can expect fewer faults, more consistent speeds, and the capacity to connect multiple devices simultaneously.

Beyond Whitley Bay, Openreach has been diligently extending its services in Benton, where more than 14,000 households and businesses can already request the new technology.
