ITS Joins Liverpool City Region Consortium to Deliver Open RAN Technology

ITS, a prominent player in the digital infrastructure arena, has partnered with a consortium known as The Liverpool City Region High Demand Density (Liverpool City Region HDD) to bring Open RAN technology to high-capacity venues across the Liverpool City Region. Spearheaded by the University of Liverpool, this ambitious digital infrastructure project has secured a substantial £9 million in funding from the Department of Science Innovation and Technology (DSIT), marking a significant milestone announced today.

Mike Goodwin, Chief Technology Officer at ITS Technology Group, expressed the company’s commitment to this endeavor, stating: “As a joint venture partner involved in the deployment of the full fibre network under the banner of LCR Connect, we take pride in expanding this platform across the Liverpool City Region. In our role as a consortium partner, we will be responsible for the implementation of the essential infrastructure that paves the way for innovative 5G solutions to be deployed in high-density, high-traffic venues. This development promises to revolutionize connectivity at venues throughout the City Region, and we eagerly anticipate our collaboration with fellow consortium partners to make this a reality.”
