Digital Infrastructure Announces Expansion of BeFibre’s Future-Ready Broadband to Key UK Areas

Digital Infrastructure, a pioneering telecommunications infrastructure provider, is set to extend BeFibre’s Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) connectivity to Thurnscoe, Barnburgh, Bolton upon Dearne, Goldthorpe, and Harlington. This strategic move is part of their nationwide initiative to deploy a comprehensive full fibre network across the UK.

This project is underpinned by a substantial private investment of £100 million and will be meticulously planned, constructed, and operated by Digital Infrastructure. A key facet of their strategy involves leveraging existing ducts, eliminating the need for extensive roadworks. This not only expedites the installation process but also significantly reduces the environmental impact while ensuring cost-efficiency.

The project, scheduled to commence this month, represents a significant upgrade in connectivity for Thurnscoe and its adjacent areas. The introduction of next-generation FTTP connectivity will cater to the needs of local residents who are often not receiving the bandwidth they are paying for with their current providers.

Collaborating closely with broadband retailer and sister company, BeFibre, Digital Infrastructure is preparing to deploy a team of skilled engineers to the area. The primary objective is to ready homes for the upcoming service. With a phased roll-out program in place, residents can look forward to enjoying a future-proof internet experience, meeting their speed requirements both now and in the foreseeable future. The region is expected to be fully BeFibre broadband-ready by Autumn 2023.

Louise Elliott, Chief Customer and Operations Officer at Digital Infrastructure and BeFibre, emphasized the critical need for high-speed broadband in the UK. She stated, “There is an ever-increasing demand for high-speed broadband in the UK and we’re here to bring next-generation connectivity to communities — particularly in underserved areas. We’re also challenging the status quo with our commitment to keeping the promises we make when it comes to delivering the speeds, reliability, and exceptional service that our customers deserve.” This initiative reflects their dedication to creating a positive impact within the communities they serve.
