CityFibre’s ‘Immersive’ Tour Bus Brings Full Fibre Connectivity Experience to Portsmouth

Residents of Portsmouth are in for a treat as CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full fibre platform, brings its immersive tour bus to the city from April 13th to 15th. This innovative initiative aims to showcase the advantages of a full fibre home broadband connection.

The tour, which will visit several cities across the UK, kicks off in Portsmouth before heading to Reading, Leeds, Coventry, Peterborough, and concluding in Aberdeen in June. In Portsmouth, the tour bus will be stationed at GunWharf Quays during the specified dates.

Onboard the tour bus, visitors can engage in a range of immersive games and challenges that demonstrate the capabilities of full fibre connectivity. Among the attractions is the ‘Avatar Experience,’ where individuals can design and interact with their virtual selves, creating GIFs to share on social media. Participants in the ‘Fibre Dash Game’ have the chance to win prizes while learning about the advantages of full fibre compared to traditional copper technology. Additionally, the ‘Home of the Future’ offers a virtual reality experience where tech enthusiasts can explore various scenarios, from assisting a chef in the kitchen to hitting the gym and using CityFibre’s rowing machine.

CityFibre’s nationwide full fibre rollout is already benefiting communities across the UK, with over 2.7 million homes passed and 2.3 million designated as “Ready for Service.” This infrastructure provides faster and more reliable internet services, ensuring residents are well-equipped for the future. In Portsmouth, thousands of residents can already sign up for CityFibre’s network through various consumer internet service providers.

Dan Ramsay, Chief Marketing Officer at CityFibre, emphasized the affordability of full fibre broadband, offering superior services without a hefty price tag. As broadband prices increase for millions of consumers, upgrading to full fibre not only delivers a superior online experience for gaming and remote work but could also result in significant cost savings.

Visitors in Portsmouth are invited to hop aboard the CityFibre tour bus, where they can explore the technology, have some fun, and learn more about the full fibre project and its availability in their area. The tour bus will be open to visitors from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. each day at GunWharf Quays in Portsmouth.
