MP Ben Bradley Observes Openreach’s Broadband Build in Mansfield

Mansfield, UK – MP Ben Bradley recently paid a visit to Openreach engineers as they commenced construction of a new Ultrafast Full Fibre broadband network in Mansfield. This development promises lightning-fast internet speeds for the town, and the MP took the opportunity to gain firsthand insights into Openreach’s implementation of this transformative technology.

During his visit, MP Ben Bradley toured the Pelham Street telephone exchange, where the Openreach network originates. He had the chance to observe the construction process, including the integration of the new network with existing equipment. Additionally, he tried his hand at “splicing,” the process of joining two sections of fibre cable together.

The visit continued to Deakins Court, a new housing estate in Mansfield, where the MP witnessed Openreach engineers already delivering full fibre connectivity to hundreds of new homes.

Commenting on his visit, Ben Bradley MP expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “It was great to be out with Kasam and the team at Openreach, first to the old telephone exchange, and then out and about looking at the new kit they’re starting to install for Mansfield’s Gigabit broadband rollout. It’s amazing news that from about July time they’ll begin connecting homes up to the new, latest and fastest broadband. Another major investment in Mansfield’s infrastructure!”

The visit was hosted by Kasam Hussain, Openreach’s regional director for Central England, who shared his optimism for Mansfield’s future. He highlighted the dedication of Openreach engineers in connecting communities across Nottinghamshire and the wider region, reaffirming their commitment to upgrading Mansfield to full broadband during the upcoming summer months.
