In a move that promises to enrich the local cricketing scene in Matlock, Gigaclear, a leading full fibre broadband provider, has entered a two-season sponsorship deal with Matlock and Cromford Meadows Cricket Club. This collaboration aims to empower and uplift young cricket players in the area.
Gigaclear, currently expanding its full fibre network in rural Derbyshire, demonstrated its commitment to the community with a launch event on Sunday, May 14. During this event, the U11s team proudly donned new cricket kit adorned with Gigaclear branding as they faced Ashbourne. The company also introduced the Gigaclear Player of the Match Trophy, awarded to Isabella for her exceptional performance behind the wicket. The trophy was presented by 1st XI Team Captain Ed Lander and Junior Co-ordinator Ray Mullaney.
Commenting on the partnership, Sam Christmas, Gigaclear’s Community Engagement Manager, expressed the company’s dedication to empowering rural communities through fast and reliable broadband services. He noted that supporting grassroots sports clubs in their network areas aligns perfectly with their mission. The partnership with Matlock and Cromford Meadows Cricket Club signifies Gigaclear’s commitment to fostering strong relationships within the community.
In addition to the sponsorship of cricket kits, Gigaclear is supporting a Kwik Cricket Schools Competition set to take place at the cricket field on Tuesday, May 16. This event will feature teams from Tansley Primary, All Saints CE Junior School, and two teams from St Joseph’s RC Primary. Gigaclear also plans to participate in the cricket club’s family fun day in July and offer an exclusive affinity broadband deal to anyone associated with the club.
Gigaclear announced its expansion into Derbyshire in November, with the goal of extending its full fibre broadband network to serve 25,000 homes and businesses in rural communities, including 4,500 in Matlock.
Steve Haslam, Matlock and Cromford’s Sponsorship Coordinator, praised Gigaclear’s support, especially its discounts for club members and assistance for those transitioning to hardball cricket. He highlighted the significance of the Player of the Month trophies, which are now coveted by all players as symbols of individual excellence and contributions to successful teams.
