Esther McVey MP Visits Knutsford to Witness Openreach’s Ultrafast Broadband Build

Openreach, the UK’s premier digital network provider, has embarked on an ambitious project to establish an ultrafast broadband network in Knutsford. This development promises to offer residents and businesses access to some of the fastest and most reliable broadband services in Europe.

Esther McVey toured the worksite and received a comprehensive update on the progress of the broadband build, which has already benefited more than 225,000 homes and businesses in Cheshire. This includes the first 1,000 residences and commercial establishments in Knutsford that have now gone live with the new broadband infrastructure.

Reflecting on her visit, Tatton MP Esther McVey stated, “It was great to see first-hand the technology that will be used to deliver ultrafast broadband to Knutsford. I know from conversations I have had with both residents and businesses how important connectivity is and know they will really benefit from this increase in speed.”

She further emphasized her commitment to advocating for improved broadband services across her constituency, both in public and private forums, to ensure that her constituents can access fast and reliable broadband.

Openreach’s ultrafast Full Fibre network already reaches over 225,000 properties in Cheshire, encompassing thousands of residents and businesses in Alderley Edge and Wilmslow who already have access to this transformative technology. Future investments are planned in locations such as Audlem, Disley, Pickmere, Runcorn East, Warrington, and Wybunbury, demonstrating Openreach’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to ultrafast broadband across the region.
