CityFibre Achieves Major Milestone in Rugby’s Full Fibre Expansion

Rugby residents and businesses are celebrating as CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent provider of full fibre infrastructure, has reached a significant milestone in its digital network rollout. This development means that local residents can now future-proof their homes and gain access to faster and more reliable broadband services.

CityFibre has invested £17 million in Rugby, making it one of the latest locations in the UK to benefit from a full fibre upgrade. The rollout has been successfully completed in most parts of the Admirals and Cawston ward, with expansion currently underway in the Newbold and Brownsover ward.

The entire rollout is expected to be finalized by 2024, offering local homes and businesses the opportunity to upgrade to full fibre, ensuring their connectivity remains cutting-edge for many years to come.

Bashir Ahmed MBE, CityFibre’s Partnership Manager for Rugby, expressed excitement about achieving this latest milestone in the network rollout. Thousands of Rugby households will soon have access to lightning-fast broadband speeds, with even more set to go live in the coming months.

Ahmed recognized the patience and support of the community in undertaking infrastructure investment of this magnitude. He highlighted the long-term benefits of this state-of-the-art network, such as increased productivity, innovation, and new investment opportunities for the residents of Rugby.

Full fibre networks utilize 100% fibre optics to transmit data at lightning-fast speeds directly from the home to the point of connection. This technology offers users speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps for both uploading and downloading, virtually unlimited bandwidth, and consistent connectivity.

CityFibre’s local rollout is being facilitated by its build partner, Callan Connect. The team is working closely with Rugby Borough Council and Warwickshire County Council to ensure any potential disruptions are effectively managed and minimized.

Councillor Martin Watson, Portfolio Holder for Economy at Warwickshire County Council, expressed the council’s enthusiasm for CityFibre’s investment. He noted that this infrastructure will provide Rugby with the essential digital foundation needed to thrive in an increasingly online world. The progress achieved so far has been impressive, and the infrastructure’s potential to drive growth and development for residents and businesses alike is eagerly anticipated.
