In a groundbreaking move, Lightning Fibre, the Eastbourne-based Full Fibre broadband network operator and Internet Service Provider (ISP), has inked a pivotal agreement with Southern Housing to roll out a state-of-the-art Full Fibre broadband network across homes in East Sussex. The collaboration, marked by the signing of a universal wayleave agreement, promises to revolutionize internet connectivity for Southern Housing residents in East Sussex, Wealden, and Rother areas.
The strategic wayleave agreement signifies a significant leap forward in delivering faster, more affordable, and highly stable internet connections to Southern Housing residents. Lightning Fibre is committed to bridging the digital divide and ensuring that residents have access to reliable internet services.
In addition to the pact with Southern Housing, Lightning Fibre has forged similar agreements with key players in the housing sector. The company has signed a wayleave agreement with Eastbourne Homes, a property owner with a substantial portfolio in Eastbourne, and is collaborating with Orbit Homes in conjunction with Complete Fibre Group (CFG). Moreover, Lightning Fibre is actively engaged with Trinity Homes to bring ‘lightning-fast’ Full Fibre connectivity to new developments, including social housing projects.
An essential aspect of Lightning Fibre’s approach is its dedication to social responsibility. The company has implemented a direct API feed to the Department of Work and Pensions, enabling customers to swiftly and discreetly confirm their eligibility for the social tariff. Notably, Lightning Fibre refrains from conducting credit checks for residential customers, emphasizing its commitment to inclusivity.
Stefan Stanislawski, CEO of Lightning Fibre, emphasized the importance of affordable broadband in the context of digital inclusion. Stanislawski stated, “A strong and affordable broadband and internet service is one of the five elements of digital inclusion. With a move towards digital services to modernize and streamline how housing associations interact with residents, an affordable internet connection is vital. Lightning Fibre will ensure people are not left behind as we help create ‘Digital Britain’.”
Acknowledging Lightning Fibre’s commitment to excellence, the company received the prestigious Internet Service Providers’ Association (ISPA) Award for Best Consumer ISP (fewer than 50,000 customers) in November 2023. The judges lauded Lightning Fibre’s customer focus, community offerings, and transparency, positioning the company as a standout performer in a highly competitive category.
