Openreach is calling upon the residents and businesses of Moore to seize the opportunity to bring ultrafast, ultra-reliable full fibre broadband to their locality. The company is stressing that without the community’s involvement in applying for free Government broadband vouchers, they risk missing out on a transformative full fibre upgrade.
By harnessing these vouchers, the village could join the ranks of over 225,000 homes and businesses across Cheshire already benefiting from full fibre broadband. Funding made available through the Government’s Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme, combined with innovative broadband signal boosting technology, extends the reach of the full fibre network, enabling more remote rural communities like Moore to access ultrafast technology.
Openreach has identified Moore as a prime candidate for Full Fibre and is urging local residents to take the next step by applying for and pooling their free Government Gigabit Vouchers to help finance the network expansion.
Residents can easily check their eligibility and pledge their voucher on the Connect My Community website. These vouchers, which come at no cost to residents, facilitate a collaborative approach, allowing Openreach to work with the local community to build a tailored, co-funded network. Moreover, these vouchers can be combined to extend the ultrafast, ultra-reliable network to remote rural areas that would otherwise lack coverage due to limited private investment.
Paul Harland, Openreach’s regional engagement manager, emphasized the significant opportunity at hand, stating, “This is a really exciting opportunity for the people of Moore to bring all the benefits of ultrafast, ultra-reliable full fibre broadband to their community. Our Fibre Community Partnership programme has meant that we’ve been able to potentially bring hundreds more communities across the UK into our Full Fibre build plans. But building out the network to these harder to reach locations is still challenging – which is why it’s only possible with everyone working together – you, your neighbors, and Openreach.”
He added, “We’re investing £15 billion to build full fibre broadband to 25 million homes – and more than six million of those will be in the toughest third of the UK – but we can’t upgrade the whole country alone. This latest support from the government is a vital part of that process.”
