Richard Tang Interviews wail Sabbagh, CEO Of Strategic Impertives/The Fibre Café

Does Fibre Café Have a Future After the Big Alt-Net Consolidation? Founder Wail Sabbagh Says Yes!

With the anticipated consolidation of alternative networks, some might question Fibre Café’s relevance. However, Wail Sabbagh, Founder and MD of Strategic Imperatives, sees it differently. He describes Fibre Café not just as an aggregation tool but as a unified gateway into the UK’s network ecosystem. Even if the market consolidates, its value lies in providing a single point of integration, supporting 22 million full fibre premises and shielding ISPs from the shifting market landscape.

Wail referred to consolidation as a “lottery” and emphasized that Fibre Café would remain vital regardless of its outcome. He noted the success of Strategic Imperatives’ earlier product, Elevate, when Openreach was the sole network, illustrating the strength of simplicity and consistency.

Regarding Elevate’s future amid the PSTN switch-off, Sabbagh was confident, as MSPs mainly rely on it for non-PSTN services, with billing evolving towards subscriptions and event-based models.

On AI, Sabbagh shared insights into Strategic Imperatives’ exploration, pondering the capabilities of large language models, and hinting at a broader vision for how technology will shape telecom.

Overall, Wail’s confidence in Fibre Café’s adaptability and relevance in a consolidating market remains strong.
