Openreach has issued a call to action for residents in Tregynon, Llanbrynmair, and Kerry in Powys, urging them to support an initiative aimed at bringing ultrafast, ultra-reliable full fibre broadband to local homes and businesses.
Openreach emphasizes the importance of seizing this unique opportunity for a full fibre upgrade, facilitated through the application for free UK Government broadband vouchers. These vouchers can subsequently be employed to access faster speeds and enhanced reliability.
By rallying enough participants, residents from these rural villages will join the ranks of 25,000 homes and businesses across Powys already enjoying full fibre broadband connectivity.
To determine eligibility and contribute their voucher pledge, residents can visit the Connect My Community website.
Funding for this endeavour is made possible through the UK Government’s Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme, coupled with the deployment of advanced broadband signal enhancement technology. This technology has the capacity to extend the coverage of the full fibre network, thereby placing ultrafast capabilities within reach of numerous remote rural communities.
Openreach has identified Tregynon, Llanbrynmair, and Kerry as prime candidates for Full Fibre deployment. Residents are urged to play their part by applying for and collectively pooling their free UK Government Gigabit Vouchers to facilitate the construction process.
These vouchers, it’s important to note, incur no cost for residents. They enable Openreach to collaborate with the local community in constructing a tailored, co-funded network. Moreover, they can be amalgamated to extend the ultrafast and ultra-reliable network to premises in peripheral rural areas that might otherwise be left out of private investment initiatives.
Martin Williams, Openreach’s Partnership Director for Wales, expressed his enthusiasm about this prospect, stating, “This is an exciting opportunity for the people of Tregynon, Llanbrynmair, and Kerry to bring all the benefits of ultrafast, ultra-reliable full fibre broadband to their communities.”
