In a bid to stay true to its strategic goals, Openreach, the UK’s largest wholesale broadband network, is shuffling its leadership team.
Kim Mears OBE, who’s given nearly 20 years of her life to Openreach and joined the team back in 2006, is set to retire on March 31st, 2023. But she won’t be saying goodbye entirely. Kim will stick around as an Executive Advisor to Openreach. She’ll also continue chairing the Welsh Board and will pick up a few non-executive roles outside of Openreach.
There’s another change on the horizon. Katie Milligan, who has already been doing a stellar job overseeing Openreach’s commercial relationships with big players like BT, SKY, TalkTalk, Vodafone, and Zen, is stepping into some bigger shoes.
She’ll be taking on the role of Chief Commercial Officer, a role that stretches beyond her current responsibilities. Alongside her existing duties, she’ll now be handling Infrastructure Development too.
This means she’ll be working closely with house-builders and government bodies to make sure Openreach’s projects, both commercial and publicly funded, run smoothly.
