UK telecommunication infrastructure provider, Digital Infrastructure, has kickstarted an extensive infrastructure project to establish an advanced broadband network in Thurnscoe, Harlington, Barnburgh, Bolton upon Dearne, and Goldthorpe. This marks a pivotal phase in their targeted £100 million private investment to elevate the connectivity standards across the UK.
Upon completion, approximately 9.7K residents in Thurnscoe and its vicinity will benefit from an internet infrastructure designed to meet both current and future needs, delivering consistent, guaranteed high-speeds.
The construction approach underscores Digital Infrastructure’s commitment to leaving a positive societal legacy. Utilizing existing ducts minimizes the need for disruptive road digging, aligning with the company’s strategy of employing faster and less invasive construction methods. This not only reduces deployment costs but also enhances efficiency while significantly reducing the environmental impact.
The network, set to be operated by next-generation internet provider BeFibre upon completion, is anticipated to make Thurnscoe and its neighboring areas broadband-ready by Autumn 2023.
Lionel Spencer, Delivery and Operations Director at Digital Infrastructure, expressed enthusiasm for the rollout, emphasizing the company’s dedication to providing future-proofed networks to the build areas. The goal is to empower residents with the option of accessing Gigabit-capable infrastructure, ensuring consistent high-speed connectivity.
