CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full fibre platform, recently welcomed Mark Pawsey MP for a tour of Rugby’s full fibre network construction, which is progressing as part of a £17 million project.
During the visit, CityFibre representatives introduced Mr. Pawsey to the advanced technology behind full fibre networks and provided demonstrations of the typical build process, including excavation and reinstatement.
Unlike most of the digital infrastructure currently accessible to households, full fibre networks employ 100% fibre optic technology, ensuring lightning-fast data transmission from homes to connection points. This translates to speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps for both uploads and downloads, virtually unlimited bandwidth, and dependable connectivity.
Neal Wright, Area Manager for Rugby at CityFibre, expressed pride in the progress made in bringing full fibre connectivity to Rugby and the warm support received from the local community and Mr. Pawsey. Thousands of homes already have access to the network, and efforts are underway to expand this connectivity further.
Mark Pawsey, MP for Rugby, underscored the importance of broadband and reliable internet connectivity as essential components of modern infrastructure. He praised the upgrade for ensuring that Rugby has the necessary tools to serve the future needs of homes and businesses while promoting competition in the broadband market.
The local rollout in Rugby is managed by CityFibre’s build partner, Callan Connect, in close collaboration with Rugby Borough Council and local communities to ensure the efficient and safe management of any potential disruptions.
