Harrogate and Knaresborough residents in the Bilton, Woodlands, Rossett Green, Pannal, Valley Gardens, and New Park areas are celebrating as CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full fibre platform, has marked these areas ‘ready for service.’ This significant development means that thousands of premises in these regions can now connect to top-tier digital infrastructure.
CityFibre’s rollout in Harrogate, Knaresborough, and Ripon is part of a £46 million investment in the area. The rollout is nearing completion in Harrogate, with nearly every local home and business expected to have access to full fibre services from various internet service providers later this year. Additionally, the rollout is expanding into new areas in Ripon.
Residents and businesses in Harrogate and Knaresborough now have the opportunity to sign up for internet services from CityFibre’s UK launch partner, Vodafone, which offers selected Vodafone Pro Broadband plans. Other providers like TalkTalk, Giganet, Zen, and more are also available options.
CityFibre’s investment in full fibre infrastructure is in stark contrast to copper-based ‘fibre broadband’ services that are currently available. CityFibre’s networks utilize 100% fibre optic infrastructure, providing lightning-fast data speeds for both uploads and downloads, reaching up to 1,000 Mbps. Additionally, full fibre offers virtually limitless bandwidth, ensuring that multiple users in a household can simultaneously work, study, stream, or game without interruptions.
Kim Johnston, CityFibre Area Manager, emphasized the transformation of Harrogate and Ripon’s digital capabilities, making them some of the best-connected towns in the UK. She also highlighted CityFibre’s commitment to working closely with North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) to ensure that development works, including the restoration of footways, are carried out smoothly.
