Beccles, a town with a rich historical background, is poised to step into the future as it joins a select group of over 2,800 UK communities gaining access to Openreach’s Full Fibre broadband network.
This significant Full Fibre broadband upgrade, occurring once in a generation, will empower thousands of local residents to connect numerous devices at remarkable gigabit-capable speeds, all while ensuring that their broadband capacity remains future-proof for decades.
Beccles stands among the 19 new locations recently unveiled for a major ultrafast broadband upgrade. Approximately 5,700 homes and businesses within the town are expected to reap the benefits of this development. Moreover, in East Anglia, 9,500 properties in Costessey and 3,700 in Horsham St Faith are also part of this expansion.
Full Fibre broadband, renowned for its reliability, resilience, and future-proof connectivity, offers fewer faults, consistent and predictable speeds, and the capacity to effortlessly meet the escalating demands for data.
Kieran Wines, Openreach Partnership Director for the East, emphasized Openreach’s unmatched prowess in building Full Fibre infrastructure across the UK. Wines also assured that comprehensive information and timelines regarding the build plan would be readily accessible on Openreach’s website as the planning progresses.
With a workforce of more than 3,500 Openreach employees living and working in the East of England, this team plays a pivotal role in maintaining and expanding the UK’s largest phone and broadband network.
