LilaConnect has now passed 80% of premises in Stoke-on-Trent, equating to 103,784 residential and commercial properties across the city! This means that every one of those properties can now access superfast full fibre.
They have been working alongside the government as part of the Silicon Stoke Prospectus. Originally published in 2021, Stoke-on-Trent City Council (SoTCC) recognized that future-proofing connectivity for the city is one of the key drivers to upgrading the area digitally.
The full fibre to the premises (FTTP) network marks a departure from older broadband connections, such as ADSL, which use copper wires to transmit data. This has been made possible through the completion of an innovative 113km full-fibre FTTP network, part of the Silicon Stoke project, laid across Stoke-on-Trent. The infrastructure provider awarded this FTTP contract by the UK Government was VX Fiber, with LilaConnect as its ISP. VX Fiber merged with Freedom Fibre earlier this year.
