In a major stride towards bolstering digital connectivity, CityFibre, the UK’s premier independent full fibre platform, proudly announces the successful completion of its primary-build full fibre network in Slough. This milestone positions Slough as one of the most well-connected locales in the nation, with the network now ‘ready for service’ for almost 42,000 homes, encompassing about 80% of residential properties and a significant portion of local businesses.
Commencing in October 2020, the construction project saw CityFibre deploy an extensive 500km full fibre infrastructure across the town—equivalent to more than two and a half times the length of the M25. While the primary-build concludes, CityFibre remains committed to exploring additional opportunities, including new builds, properties on private or unadopted roads, and business parks.
Residents in Slough can now access affordable, gigabit-capable, and reliable full fibre broadband through various Internet Service Providers (ISPs), including Vodafone, TalkTalk, Giganet, and Zen. The current network supports impressive download and upload speeds of up to 2.5Gbps, with future capabilities extending to symmetrical speeds of up to 10Gbps.
CityFibre’s comprehensive digital infrastructure platform is projected to deliver substantial economic, social, and environmental benefits to Slough. According to an economic impact report by consultancy Hatch, commissioned by CityFibre, the town anticipates over £487m in productivity and innovation gains and £107m from an expanded workforce over a 15-year span. The facilitation of 5G rollout alone could contribute up to £1bn in positive economic impact.
Neil Madle, Partnership Manager at CityFibre, expressed enthusiasm about Slough’s enhanced connectivity, stating, “Tens of thousands of homes and businesses in Slough now have access to lightning-fast and highly reliable connectivity, unlocking heaps of economic opportunities for the town.”

But they haven’t done my street, which is was on their stage 1 plan. I’m now stuck on ADSL (not even FTTC) while being sandwiched between 2 towns/villages that have gig broadband.
