Openreach’s full fibre broadband is now accessible to over 100,000 premises in Derbyshire, including Brinsley, Eastwood, Heanor, Langley Mill, and Underwood. Local residents and businesses are encouraged to check if they can upgrade to this high-speed service.
Dan Inger, a Fibre Project Manager for Openreach based in Eastwood, is spearheading this initiative. With over two decades of experience at Openreach and a lifelong connection to Eastwood, Dan is passionate about improving the digital landscape of his hometown. The full fibre rollout, executed in collaboration with Map Group contractors, has already reached over 20,000 homes and businesses in the area.
Dan Inger expressed concern that a mere 10 percent of premises have embraced the advantages of this new network. He emphasizes the vast benefits of full fibre broadband, citing increased speed, enhanced reliability, resilience, and future-proof connectivity. Users can expect fewer connectivity issues, consistent speeds, and the capability to use multiple devices simultaneously.
The installation of full fibre broadband entails laying cables from the local exchange on Milnhay Road to just outside homes and businesses. Over 20,000 premises in Eastwood, Heanor, and Langley Mill have already undergone this transformation, with ongoing efforts to extend coverage further.
