CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full fibre platform, recently hosted Nick Fletcher, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Don Valley, for a tour of the ongoing full fibre network construction in Doncaster, particularly in the Rossington area. This tour provided Mr. Fletcher with a comprehensive overview of the £25 million city-wide project.
Full fibre networks, as opposed to conventional digital infrastructure, employ 100% fibre optic technology to transmit data at lightning speed from homes to connection points. This technology ensures upload and download speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps, virtually unlimited bandwidth, and reliable connectivity.
The construction efforts in Doncaster are being executed by Heneghans, CityFibre’s build partner. They utilize various construction methods and collaborate closely with Doncaster Council and local communities to expedite the rollout while managing any potential disruptions.
As each neighbourhood’s network is completed, CityFibre designates homes as ‘ready for service,’ enabling residents to connect to full fibre-enabled broadband services as they become available in their area.
Natalie Ward, CityFibre’s Area Manager for Doncaster, expressed pride in the progress of the full fibre rollout and the positive impact it has had on Doncaster residents who have chosen to access the network. This includes access to a range of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) delivering high-speed and reliable broadband services. Rossington is set to be the next area to benefit from this initiative, and Mr. Fletcher’s support for the future works is appreciated.
Nick Fletcher, Conservative MP for Don Valley, commended the team’s progress and enthusiasm for modernizing the city’s infrastructure. He highlighted the additional investment made by CityFibre as a significant win for the area, eagerly anticipating the development of the next stages of the rollout and the numerous benefits it will bring to local residents and businesses.
In Doncaster, customers can choose from a variety of Internet Service Providers, including UK launch partner Vodafone, TalkTalk, Giganet, Zen, and many others, to access full fibre services.
