CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full fibre platform, recently hosted Philip Hollobone MP for a tour of Kettering’s ongoing full fibre network construction. This visit provided Mr. Hollobone with insights into the £17 million project and familiarized him with full fibre network technology, including typical construction processes such as excavation and reinstatement.
Full fibre networks, in contrast to most of today’s digital infrastructure, utilize 100% fibre optic technology to transmit data at lightning-fast speeds from the home to the point of connection. This results in download and upload speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps, virtually unlimited bandwidth, and reliable connectivity.
James Cushing, Area Manager for Kettering at CityFibre, expressed pride in the progress of Kettering’s full fibre rollout, highlighting the support from Mr. Hollobone and the local community. Thousands of homes in Kettering already have access to the network, with plans to extend this improved connectivity to a wider area in the near future.
Philip Hollobone, MP for Kettering, commended CityFibre’s investment in Kettering’s critical infrastructure upgrade. He emphasized the potential benefits this project could bring to local businesses and residents, highlighting the progress made in delivering such a large-scale infrastructure project.
CityFibre’s local rollout in Kettering is conducted in partnership with Granemore. The team collaborates closely with North Northamptonshire Council and local communities to ensure the construction process is efficient and minimizes disruptions.
Currently, Kettering residents have access to services provided by Vodafone, Giganet, and several others, with additional providers expected to join the network soon. This effort aligns with CityFibre’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and making Kettering one of the best-connected towns in the world.
