London, UK – Vorboss, the dedicated enterprise fibre network serving London, has named John Browett as its new Chair. This announcement coincides with the retirement of Paul Latham from his position as Chief Executive at Fern Trading Group, the organization backing Vorboss and advised by Octopus Investments.
John Browett brings nearly four decades of extensive leadership experience in the retail and investment sectors to his new role. His career spans executive and non-executive positions, including key roles at prominent businesses like Apple Retail, Dixons Retail PLC, Dunelm, and tesco.com. His impressive track record and deep industry knowledge are set to be valuable assets as Vorboss continues its growth trajectory. Notably, John Browett is no stranger to the company, already serving on the board of Octopus Group Holdings, the parent company of Octopus Investments.
Vorboss has established a distinctive infrastructure asset, boasting over 500 kilometers of installed fiber optic cable. The company’s ambitious goal is to connect all commercial properties in Central London, guaranteeing a minimum speed of 10Gbps, extendable to 100Gbps. After three years of intensive infrastructure development, the fully-owned network was made available to customers in September 2022, ushering in the high-speed, high-quality connectivity that businesses in the Capital require to foster growth and innovation. Vorboss’s workforce has grown to over 360 employees, with many benefiting from training at the Vorboss Academy, an in-house facility addressing the demand for new skills in the evolving telecommunications sector.
Tim Creswick, CEO of Vorboss, expressed enthusiasm about John Browett’s appointment, stating, “John joining us as Chair couldn’t come at a better time to drive forward our ambitions. I’m proud of our growing business and moving the market into a world where end-users no longer think about bandwidth. John’s depth of expertise and his counsel will be invaluable as we really start to scale.”
John Browett shared his excitement about the role, emphasizing Vorboss’s unique position in the industry. He said, “Vorboss has made great strides in upending the fibre industry, and I can’t wait to work with them to realise their vision of powering the Capital’s most ambitious businesses.”
