Brsk has announced it’s trialling a new 2Gbps service with selected customers across various regions, from West Yorkshire to Greater Manchester. With over 633,000 homes already passed by their full-fibre network, this upgrade in technology solidifies their recent win at the Connected Britain Awards, where they took home the “Full Fibre Innovation” prize. 👀
The trial began in September, and alongside infrastructure upgrades, they’re praising their new hardware vendor: TP-Link. They’re launching the 2Gbps service with the TP-Link EX820v router and HX710 Pro mesh access points. Most hardware supplied by ISPs only handles speeds up to 1Gbps, so Brsk underwent a rigorous performance testing process to find the right equipment.
Brsk’s Head of Networks, Jody Botham, said:
“While no wireless system is perfect, we understand that it is key to our customers’ experience when using our broadband products, and so for the 2Gbps product, it was really important for us to make sure we selected equipment that can deliver the performance to make the most of this product. We’ve made a significant investment in our CPE testing platform, which has allowed us to validate the functionality and benchmark the performance of a number of vendors’ CPE models, that on paper should have very similar performance, whereas in reality, we saw some big differences. We selected the TP-Link devices based on their superior performance. As a partner, they’ve been very supportive throughout this process and we’re looking forward to working with them over the coming months and years.”
Launching in October 2024, Brsk has said the 2Gbps package will be priced at £55.00. Which, we have to say, is extremely competitive for these types of speeds! When you consider national ISPs push 1Gbps at around the same price, Brsk has committed to offering double that!
