CityFibre, the UK’s leading independent full fibre network provider, has achieved a significant milestone by completing the primary-build of its full fibre network in Binley Woods, a village in Warwickshire. This extension of CityFibre’s network, which originated in nearby Coventry, now covers a total of 118,423 homes and businesses in the area.
The construction of this substantial £500,000 project commenced in September 2022, and it is now prepared to serve over 1,018 residences in Binley Woods. Residents in the village will now have access to cost-effective, gigabit-capable, and dependable full fibre broadband services through various internet service providers (ISPs), including Vodafone, TalkTalk, Zen, Giganet, and more. Notably, all eligible homes within the network’s coverage area can schedule a full fibre installation within just five working days of placing an order.
A recent study conducted by Hatch, a consultancy commissioned by CityFibre, demonstrated that Coventry, located in close proximity to Binley Woods, is poised to reap significant economic, social, and environmental benefits from its newly established digital infrastructure platform. These benefits include over £51 million in productivity and innovation gains and an additional £197 million from an expanded workforce. The rollout of 5G services, enabled by CityFibre’s infrastructure, alone could contribute up to £2 billion in positive economic impact.
CityFibre is also actively progressing with network expansion in Rugby, with plans for completion scheduled in early 2024. This strategic development will not only benefit Coventry and Rugby but also extend these economic advantages to Binley Woods, enhancing opportunities within the village.
Neal Wright, Area Manager at CityFibre, expressed his gratitude to the community and stakeholders for their unwavering support throughout the Binley Woods project. He commended the remarkable achievement of completing the rollout in just 76 days, making Binley Woods one of the best-connected areas in the country.
Mark Pawsey, Member of Parliament for Rugby and Bulkington, emphasized the significance of CityFibre’s digital upgrade in rural areas like Binley Woods. With the project’s completion, residents can now harness the potential of reliable high-speed internet, benefiting various aspects of modern life, from seamless home streaming to boosting business productivity with advanced technology.
